Practice having a strong opinion.

 Practice having a strong
opinion.

When you find yourselfabout to say, “Oh, I don’t care,we can do whatever you want,”instead pick something -randomly if you have to - and say“I’d like to do this.” Practice thisfor just one week and you’ll beamazed at what happens. It mayseem silly and pointless, especiallyif you’re just choosing randomlyinstead of actually expressing areal opinion, but it makes a huge, even transformative difference. When we say that we don’t havean opinion, we’re telling ourselvesthat our opinions don’t matter, which in turn tells us that we don’tmatter. When we state a strongopinion, even if it’s random, we’retelling ourselves, “I’m important.I do matter.” And when thoseopinions are honored by others,we get the message that othersvalue us and respect us.Much of this happens under thesurface, which is why it workseven if you think it’s silly.
